I grew up in Switzerland, worked in the Logistics Department of a manufacturing firm and later in public accounting after graduating from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. After immigrating to the USA, I worked as the General Manager of an Interstate Truck Stop. In that role, I sold a Travel Agency, purchased another Truck Stop, and helped found a Commercial Bank.

After a stint at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, I opened an international consulting firm, providing management consulting services to businesses both in the USA and in Europe. My entrepreneurial drive led to co-founding a Swiss start-up and a successful Third Party Administrator (TPA) in the USA. I lead the company through significant growth to the eventual sale to a publicly traded company. After the sale of the TPA, I returned to management consulting where I participated in or lead projects in a broad variety of industries including IT core replacement systems, forensic accounting, guiding a small service company through significant growth, mentoring an inexperienced CEO, interim CFO, preparing a company for sale and managing the due diligence process for a seller. In addition, I served as the CFO and CEO in successful turnaround situations in Texas and Nevada. Consistent with his commitment to entrepreneurship, Markus participated in two Angel Investor Groups in the USA and in Canada, working with start-ups and the owners of small to medium businesses. I volunteered in twice with SCORE, assisting start-ups and small businesses on a pro bono basis.

In addition to graduating with a degree from the Swiss University, I earned a MBA from the University of North Florida, a post-graduate management certificate from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Management & Decision Science from Walden University.

More recently, I worked with a long-established and successful business brokerage firm in Everett, WA. This experience led to the conclusion that most businesses listed for sale could be sold at a much higher value if the seller would have systematically prepared the business for sale. The book "Your Path to Doubling Your Business's Value - What is Holding You Back and How to Change It" is my contribution to business owners who want to seriously increase the value of their businesses. When not working on and in businesses, Markus enjoys the outdoors, and follows his life-long passion for international soccer.
